How did the foundation get its start?
The Norwood Circle of Hope Foundation was established in 1998 in memory of Michelle Kennedy, a young Norwood resident who suffered with leukemia. During Michelle's battle, the entire Norwood community, many of whom did not know Michelle, joined together to support her in her time of need and it is in that spirit that the Norwood Circle of Hope Foundation continues.
Over the years, the Circle of Hope Foundation has assisted Norwood families with various expenses depending on their need: rent, mortgage, utilities, food, medical bills and equipment, house ramps, prescriptions, gas cards and airline tickets to treatment centers.
Why does the foundation use an anchor as its symbol?
In ancient times an anchor was considered a symbol for safety. It was adopted by the Greeks as a symbol of hope, and that is why we use it for the Norwood Circle of Hope Foundation.
